The film was directed by Anthony C. Ferrante with Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, David Hasselhoff and Ryan Newman reprising their roles from the previous installments. New people joining the cast in the film include Tommy Davidson and Masiela Lusha.

The film premiered on Syfy in the United States on July 31, 2016. The film title, poster and intro are a parody of the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It’s been five years since the last Sharknado that devastated Washington, D.C. and the world is benefiting from this hard-eaed peace. Aston Reynolds’ tech company Astro-X with their revolutionary atmosphere stabilizers called Astro-Pods, managed to eradicate all possible Sharknado formations, before they could get the chance to grow in magnitude. Fin, is heading to Vegas for a family reunion, some fun and relaxation, but before long, menacing clouds are forming once again and a brand new Sharknado is at hand.
